About Cathy Corcione

 

Although essentially self-taught, I am heavily influenced by, rely upon, and draw reference to the Art History education I received at Princeton University, earning a degree in 1974.  Some of the painters who have affected me:  Morandi, Rothko, Sargent, Ellsworth Kelly, Wolf Kahn, Marlene Dumas, Alex Katz.  An attraction to irridescence and shimmer I believe I can attribute to Klimt and the study of Byzantine Art.  My passion for painting is matched by my love of swimming...I am a member of the 1968 Olympic Swimming Team, Mexico City.  Currently, I reside in Red Bank, New Jersey.
